With my fantastic new cutting tool I was able to cut soo many pieces of fabric for my new purses! I cut so many that I spent about an hour just to iron them all! I am so excited to share with all of you the new designs in the workings. Soon the store will be stocked with a variety of purses . I have about four sets of styles coming out this spring. There are a variety of purses being made from some recycled fabrics from past projects. There are a limited number of purses being made from fabric I designed through Spoonflower.com. I took images of my original paintings and had them printed and manipulated on fabrics. These artists print purses are the ones I am most exited for! Finally I am creating a purse based on idea of the pink pussy hat, were I will be creating a pink clutch purse with cat ears. Keep checking back these designs are more than just an idea the are in the making and will be able to be in your hands by spring!
I have found a way to efficiently organize my production process. I have a separated my steps to better create multiple purses at once with less waste of materials and time. Around Christmas I got a wonderful new rotary tool (basically a pizza cutter for fabric). It can cut multiple layers of fabric at a time. I created a template for my purses, then I fold he fabric and trace my template with the cutting tool to cut my layers. Once cut I then iron it all flat. Now I should mention I am a bit of a corner cutter when it comes to sewing. My mom who is traditionally trained hates it. I DO NOT like to use pins. I hate pinning. It takes extra time to p them in just so I can stop sewing and take them out. I skip it completely. I use materials that don't slip and slide too much and sew fast.
the three images above are the inspirations for my next set of purses coming this spring. The pink pussy cat purse, and the two paintings that have been manipulated into new fabric designs! more images and updates coming soon!
